Tamagotchi Uni
A wrist-worn, color-screen virtual pet from Bandai and the first Tamagotchi with genuine Wi-Fi connectivity, letting owners' characters interact with other Uni owners worldwide through an online hub called the Tamaverse rather than requiring two devices to be physically near each other. The unit shown is the Sanrio Characters special edition, themed around Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary with My Melody, Kuromi, and Chococat.

Insights
Bandai's own product page states "Security support ending: July 13, 2026" — a date that has already passed as of this writing — and no source confirms whether that means online/Tamaverse features have fully shut down, been scaled back, or continue with unpatched security. On privacy, Bandai states it does not collect the in-game nickname a child chooses, but the product's parental-consent mechanism is a passive, assumed-consent clause in its Terms of Use rather than an active verifiable-consent flow, and no COPPA-compliance claim was found in official materials. Bandai continues to release monthly downloadable Tamaverse content for the Uni as of August 2026, so it isn't abandoned, but the newer Tamagotchi Paradise line (expanding through 2026 with new device shells and collectibles) is now Bandai's flagship model in the line, with the Uni in a secondary role.
Firmware & Community
Closed platform
Tamagotchi Uni has not released a public SDK, firmware repo, or developer API. Not currently listed in Builds & Mods.
Verified against Bandai's own official Tamagotchi site (US series/uni page, FAQ, Sanrio edition news posts and product page, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Use for the Uni toy line), Wikipedia's Tamagotchi article, Smithsonian Magazine's franchise history, the Tamagotchi Fandom Wiki, and reviews from GamesHub, T3, Out to Lunch, and Engadget. Exact screen size/resolution, device-only weight and dimensions, JPY and non-US Sanrio-edition pricing, and whether a companion app exists at all are not confirmed by any source found. Battery life is reported inconsistently (roughly 1.5 days to 1.5 weeks depending on source); ~2–3 days per charge is presented as the best-supported figure. Bandai's own product page states online security support ended July 13, 2026 — a date already past as of this writing — and what that means for current functionality is unresolved. Japan Toy Awards and Nikkei award claims come from retailer listings, not a verified primary source. A Mozilla "*Privacy Not Included" review of this product could not be retrieved and its conclusions are not represented here. Tamagotchi Paradise's status as Bandai's current flagship is confirmed via Toy Book and Total Licensing coverage of Bandai's 2026 expansion of that line. Moved from Featured to Under Review because the Uni is no longer Bandai's top model in the line — it remains sold and supported with monthly content, but Tamagotchi Paradise has taken the flagship position.
