Galaxea R1 Series
A wheeled, dual-arm humanoid family from Galaxea AI (Galaxea Dynamics), a Suzhou startup founded September 2023 by former Waymo and Momenta engineer Jiyang Gao and Stanford/Berkeley-trained roboticist Huazhe Xu. Three variants share a three-wheel steering chassis and height-adjustable torso: R1 Lite ($39,999, 6-DOF arms), the original R1 (24 DOF), and R1 Pro ($69,999, 7-DOF arms, 10 kg dual-arm payload). Built for research, teleoperation data collection, and industrial pick-and-place — not for home use.

Reference Price
R1 Lite is $39,999 and R1 Pro is $69,999 on Galaxea's own store. The R1 Lite page adds that it is not currently available for direct purchase and directs business and education buyers to contact Galaxea. The original R1 does not appear on Galaxea's store at all; the only price found is $49,999 from a third-party reseller, so treat that figure as unconfirmed. Galaxea's store also lists a "Kengo" robot at a literal $999,999.00, almost certainly a contact-sales placeholder, not a real price. Education discounts and bulk pricing are handled by email. robotindex does not sell this product.
Insights
Galaxea launched the R1 Pro and R1 Lite in late 2024 alongside the previously released R1, positioning the line as a research and data-collection platform, with isomorphic and VR teleoperation built in. The company has raised roughly $210 million from more than 30 investors including Meituan, IDG Capital, and Baidu Ventures, with a reported $700 million valuation as of August 2025. This catalog's Open Source badge does not apply: Galaxea's OpenGalaxea GitHub organization publishes the G0.5 vision-language-action model (weights, training and inference code, with deployment guides for R1 Lite and R1 Pro), a simulation repo, and a 500-hour open-world manipulation dataset, but the G0.5 license permits non-commercial use only, and no hardware designs are released. The robot itself is a closed commercial product.
Verified against Galaxea's own store (galaxea-dynamics.com product and collection pages), Galaxea's R1 user guide, its OpenGalaxea GitHub repository (GalaxeaVLA), and a third-party Galaxea company profile, as of October 2026. Flagged as uncertain: the original R1 is absent from Galaxea's store and its $49,999 price comes only from a reseller; R1 Pro's weight is 126 kg on Galaxea's page but 96 kg on one third-party aggregator, which matches the R1 Lite figure and looks like a mix-up, so Galaxea's figure is used; R1 payload is 5 kg at 0.5 m in the user guide while a reseller lists 3.5 kg per arm / 10 kg combined, which matches R1 Pro's spec, so the user guide figure is used. Battery capacity and R1/R1 Lite runtime were not found in any fetched source (one aggregator reports 3 hours and 5.4 km/h for R1 Pro, not confirmed by Galaxea). The image supplied shows a wheeled dual-arm humanoid consistent with the R1 family but was not matched to a specific variant.
