CHASING Underwater Drone Family

Featured Personal Drones · Underwater
Three distinct underwater ROVs from Chasing Innovation (Shenzhen) spanning very different market tiers: the Dory, an entry-level consumer selfie drone; the Gladius Mini S, a prosumer photography/videography ROV; and the M2 S (sold as Lite/Standard/Advanced accessory bundles), an entry-level industrial inspection ROV. Unlike the HOVERAir or DJI Neo families, these three don't share a physical design or lineage — they're grouped here as one company's underwater lineup, not as tiers of a single product.

Reference Price

Dory starts around $349–$499, Gladius Mini S around $1,199–$1,599, and M2 S from $2,499 (Lite) to $4,199 (Advanced), per Chasing's own site and major retailers. Gladius Mini S pricing conflicts meaningfully across sources — RobotShop and MakeUseOf cite $1,199 versus New Atlas's $1,599 plus a $399 grabber claw — so that figure should be verified before quoting a single price.

Insights

Chasing's own spec sheet caps every M2 S tier at 100m/328ft depth regardless of tether length, but at least one retailer, iGeobotics, advertises the same product as "200m Depth Rating." The most detailed independent review available (SeaBits) covers the predecessor plain M2, not the M2 S, and documented unresolved hardware failures including melted LEDs — a historical safety-relevant malfunction not confirmed to still affect current M2 S hardware.

Firmware & Community

Specs compiled from Chasing's own product and spec pages (chasing.com), retailer listings (B&H Photo, RobotShop, iGeobotics), and independent reviews from The Low Cost Sailor (Dory), New Atlas and MakeUseOf (Gladius Mini S), and SeaBits (the predecessor plain M2, not M2 S). Flagged as unconfirmed or conflicting above: Gladius Mini S and M2 S Advanced Set base pricing, exact release dates for Gladius Mini S and M2 S, M2 S runtime (4 vs. 6 hours across sources), and whether SeaBits' M2 review's specific hardware complaints carry over to the current M2 S revision. This entry hasn't yet been cross-linked or synced to the directory listing; that's planned for a later pass.
