Sensors & Hardware
Ascento Guard (Guard 2.0) uses a wheel-leg hybrid: variable-length, spring-like legs on a two-wheel-drive base let it self-balance, self-right, and crouch or extend to climb curbs, stairs, and rough or snowy terrain, its defining feature versus flat-ground-only patrol robots. Caution: no evidence 'Watchlist' is an Ascento product; don't confuse Guard with the separately-made 'Ascento Pro' education robot.
Insights
The name "Watchlist," sometimes associated with Ascento, is not an actual Ascento product or confirmed customer. Ascento Guard should also not be confused with "Ascento Pro," a similarly-descended but separately-sold research/education robot from a different company (MYBOTSHOP). No public activity has surfaced since the September 2023 funding round and Guard 2.0 launch — over two years stale as of this check, which is why this remains Under Review rather than Featured.
Firmware & Community
Closed platform
Ascento Robotics has not released a public SDK, firmware repo, or developer API for Guard. Not currently listed in Builds & Mods.
Verified against Ascento's own official site (ascento.ai), Forbes and RoboticsTomorrow launch coverage, and The Robot Report's Guard and Guard 2.0 coverage. On rechecking, the most recent independently-dated evidence found is the September 2023 $4.3M funding round and Guard 2.0 launch — no 2024, 2025, or 2026 update was found anywhere, a correction from an earlier, less precise "through 2024" note here. "Watchlist" could not be confirmed as an Ascento product or customer name and should not be treated as accurate. Do not confuse this B2B "Ascento Guard" security robot with "Ascento Pro," a similarly-descended but separately-sold research/education robot from a different company (MYBOTSHOP).
