Reference Price

$20,000, secured via a $200 refundable preorder deposit, plus a $499/month software subscription. US shipments are targeted for 2026, with international rollout not planned until 2027, so it isn't yet available to buy outright. No customer has actually received a unit as of this writing: 1X's factory reached full production capacity in April 2026, but that output is currently going to 1X's own internal R&D and home-testing fleets rather than to buyers, with customer shipments planned to begin later in 2026, starting with early-access preorder holders ahead of a wider rollout.

Sensors & Hardware

Built around tendon-driven actuators (not rigid gearboxes) for high backdrivability (~95%) and quiet operation. Perception uses dual 8.85MP 90Hz stereo fisheye cameras, 4 beamforming microphones, and body-wide IMUs. The soft 3D-lattice polymer shell under a washable nylon suit is designed to keep head injury criterion (HIC) under 250 and avoid joint pinch points. Hands are IP68; body IP44.

Insights

NEO uses tendon-driven actuators rather than the rigid gearboxes common in competing humanoids, tied to a measurable ~22 dB operating noise level and ~95% backdrivability. That's a genuine mechanical differentiator reflected in the spec sheet itself, not just marketing prose.

Firmware & Community

Specs sourced from 1X Technologies' official NEO page and cross-checked against TechCrunch/Yahoo News coverage of the December 2025 pricing announcement, plus later reporting (Interesting Engineering) on the April 2026 full-production milestone and its internal-only allocation, as of September 2026. Moved from Featured to Under Review because no customer has actually received a unit yet — it's a real, well-documented product, just not yet buyable. robotindex does not sell this product — pricing and availability are per 1X's own preorder terms and may change.
